In a testimony written in 1882 we see the same sentiment expressed in these words, “That union and love might exist among his disciples was the burden of our Saviour’s last prayer for them prior to his crucifixion.... ‘Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.’ ” 9Testimonies for the Church 5:236, 237.
