Is not this the special province of a manifestation of the gifts of God’s spirit? Paul said they were placed in the church “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: till we all come in the unity of the faith,” etc. 11Ephesians 4:12, 13. How appropriate, that after the believers have prayerfully and in humility sought for light, the Spirit should speak and say, “This is the way; your conclusions are correct;” and then “edify” the church still further, as in this case, by telling them the practical bearing of the question, and some of the good results that will accrue from their decisions.
