2 To: Timothy, my dear child. May grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Messiah d1:2 Or Christ Jesus our Lord be yours! ISV — 2Timothy 1:2

3 I constantly thank my God—whom I serve e1:3 Or worship with a clear conscience, as my ancestors did—when I remember you in my prayers night and day, ISV — 2Timothy 1:3

4 recalling your tears and longing to see you so that I can be filled with joy. ISV — 2Timothy 1:4

5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first existed in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am convinced that this faith f1:5 Lit. it also exists in you. ISV — 2Timothy 1:5

6 For this reason, I am reminding you to fan into flames the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands. ISV — 2Timothy 1:6

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity but one of power, love, and self-discipline. g1:7 Or good judgment ISV — 2Timothy 1:7

8 Therefore, never be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me, his prisoner. Instead, by God’s power, join me in suffering for the sake of the gospel. ISV — 2Timothy 1:8

9 He saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our own accomplishments, but according to his own purpose and the grace that was given to us in the Messiah h1:9 Or Christ Jesus before time began. i1:9 Lit. before the times of the ages ISV — 2Timothy 1:9

13 Hold on to the pattern of healthy teachings that you have heard from me, along with the faith and love that are in the Messiah p1:13 Or Christ Jesus. ISV — 2Timothy 1:13

14 With the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us, protect the good treasure that has been entrusted to you. ISV — 2Timothy 1:14

15 You know that everyone in Asia has abandoned me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. ISV — 2Timothy 1:15

16 May the Lord grant mercy to the family of Onesiphorus, for he often took care of q1:16 Or refreshed me and was not ashamed that I was a prisoner. ISV — 2Timothy 1:16

17 Instead, when he arrived in Rome he searched diligently for me and found me. ISV — 2Timothy 1:17

18 May the Lord grant that he finds mercy on the day he comes again. r1:18 Lit. mercy from the Lord on that day You know very well how much he assisted me in Ephesus. ISV — 2Timothy 1:18
