Counsel #9 — Lasting Legacy CR 214

Picture: Counsel #9 — Lasting Legacy CR 214.1

When your children grow up, what will they remember most? The brand of shoes you got them for their 9th birthday, or the love you showed them when they were hurting? Legacy isn’t about inheritance. It’s about impact. CR 214.2

As parents, we leave a trail behind us every day through our habits, faith, words, and priorities. Are we modeling grace or legalism? Gratitude or entitlement? Do our kids see us praying together, repenting when we fail, speaking life over each other, and serving others? Or do they see stress, constant busyness, or unresolved tension and fighting? Proverbs reminds us to “train up a child in the way he should go,” which includes more than rules. It means modeling how to live, how to love, and how to follow Christ. You don’t have to be a perfect parent to leave a powerful legacy. You just have to be consistent and anchored in God’s Word. After all, a child will always remember how much they were loved, not how much “stuff” they were given.[225] https://childrencentral.net/7-reasons-adequate-family-time-is-important-for-kids/ CR 214.3

Reflect: What are you teaching your children through your everyday choices, even when you’re not speaking? CR 214.6
