Picture: Counsel #8 — Chosen Circle CR 39.1
Hanging out in environments where the focus is on partying, hooking up, drinking, or chasing quick thrills might feel enticing at first, but it’ll slowly pull you away from who God has called you to be. The truth is, the world knows how to package temptation in a way that seems harmless and attractive, but these distractions can lead you down a path of regret, addiction, and spiritual numbness. CR 39.2
Being around people who don’t care about living for God will start to influence you more than you realize. You might tell yourself you’re strong enough, but over time, compromise will get easier. For example, maybe you promised yourself you’d never drink alcohol, but after hanging out with friends who do, you’ve gone from “It’s just one drink” to drinking regularly. That’s why God calls us to be alert and intentional about where we go, what we listen to, and who we surround ourselves with.[37] https://egwwritings.org/read?panels=p14806.58&index=0 Guard your heart and choose your circle wisely, never trading your future with God for a moment of excitement that will never last.[38] https://unabashed.org/choosing-your-friends-wisely/ CR 39.3
