Picture: Counsel #12 — Music for Peace! CMH 14.1
Music has a profound effect on our bodies and minds. Studies show that listening to calming music can lower your blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol levels—all of which are linked to stress. When we listen to music we love, our brains release dopamine and endorphins, giving us a natural mood boost and helping us relax after a long day. Music can also help us process emotions and connect with others, creating a sense of community.[15] https://www.harmonyandhealing.org/how-music-helps-people-heal/ CMH 14.2
Beyond these benefits, music can be a powerful spiritual tool. It can deepen your time in prayer or Bible study and help you feel closer to God and His creation. However, it’s wise to choose your music carefully. Secular music that promotes sin can have the opposite effect, separating your spirit from God’s and reducing your sense of peace. CMH 14.3
Whether you sing, play an instrument, or simply listen, consider making music a part of your daily life. CMH 14.4
“…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” Ephesians 5:18, 19 NKJV CMH 14.5
“Music is often perverted to serve purposes of evil, and it thus becomes one of the most alluring agencies of temptation. But, rightly employed, it is a precious gift of God, designed to uplift the thoughts to high and noble themes, to inspire and elevate the soul.” Ellen White in Education, p. 167 CMH 14.6
