Picture: Counsel #20 — Night terrors CMH 22.1

Some people struggle with bad dreams that make them afraid. They may find themselves struggling with anxiety and fear when night falls, making it hard to find peace and rest. If this happens to you, you may feel alone and helpless. But you are not alone; God is with you. One of the most powerful things you can do when you feel this way is to focus on God’s presence, His angels, and His unwavering care for you.[23] https://am.adventistmission.org/mqc23q4-10 CMH 22.2

When fearful thoughts creep into your mind, you can, with God’s help, actively choose to banish them. Read your Bible before bed. Think about His promises of protection. You can also talk to Jesus in prayer, even out loud. Speaking your fears and anxieties to Him can be a powerful way to release the burden you’re carrying. It helps you remember that you don’t have to face these fears on your own. Instead of letting your mind wander to what scares you, intentionally fill it with thoughts of God’s love and safety.[24] https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/anxiety-hacks/ CMH 22.3

“I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Psalms 4:8 NKJV CMH 22.4

“God commissions His angels to save His chosen ones from calamity, to guard them from ‘the pestilence that walketh in darkness….’” Ellen White in Acts of the Apostles , p. 153 CMH 22.5
