It’s easy to mistakenly believe that who we are is based on what we achieve, whether it’s in sports, school, work, or any other area where we’ve put in a lot of effort. However, relying on our accomplishments for our identity doesn’t last. Life’s unexpected challenges can quickly take away those achievements and the recognition they brought. But for someone who trusts in God, their identity remains strong. They are a cherished and important part of God’s family, promised a future where nothing can be taken away.[47]Matthew 6:19, 20 Our identity in God is a gift we receive, not something we earn. No matter how high we’ve climbed the ladder of success, or how far we’ve fallen, whether we’ve earned multiple degrees or didn’t finish high school, our true identity is not enhanced or eclipsed by the car we drive or the neighborhood we live in. Looking beyond momentary accolades, as Christians, we must identify with what is everlasting. We’re children of the King, and we can identify with the purpose He has in mind for serving Him, no matter our worldly status.[48] https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/who-am-i/ CSL 37.3
