Counsel #15 — Trust through Bad News CWe 17

Picture: Counsel #15 — Trust through Bad News CWe 17.1

We live in a world where 24/7 news cycles, social media algorithms, and constant notifications create a sense of overwhelm. Though political systems, especially in the USA, are changing rapidly, sensationalized reporting and clickbait headlines often amplify anxiety and fear. This constant exposure can lead to spiritual fatigue and a sense of hopelessness, as well as a diminished sense of peace and joy. CWe 17.2

In contrast, developing deep roots of full trust in God provides a well-grounded, unwavering foundation that steadies us in turbulent times. His presence and promises give the spiritual nourishment we need to thrive, even when the world around us is withering. Trusting God through bad news is about choosing to ground ourselves in a reality where God is in control and His promises prevail.[16] https://www.revivalandreformation.org/uip/blog/trusting-god-in-the-midst-of-a-devastating-diagnosis CWe 17.3

“Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV CWe 17.4

“To have faith in the promises of God, to walk forward by faith, pressing on without being governed by circumstances, is a lesson hard to learn. Yet it is a positive necessity that every child of God learn this lesson.” Ellen White in Manuscript 43, 1898 CWe 17.5

Reflect: How might remembering that your peace, security, and eternal life come from a God who loves you reduce your anxiety about the changes in our world? CWe 17.6
