Counsel #7 — Agreement With Scripture CCW 184

Picture: Counsel #7 — Agreement With Scripture CCW 184.1

A final sign of a true prophet is their agreement with scripture. A true prophet will never bear a message claiming that works can attain salvation or that Jesus is not God. Neither will a true prophet encourage idol worship, stealing, or dishonoring parents. To believe a prophet that explicitly contradicts and devalues scripture—such as the Mormon prophet Joseph Smith—is to believe that God is willing to contradict and devalue Himself.[294]https://www.ministrymagazine.org/archive/1982/08/the-inspiration-and-authority-of-the-ellen-g.-white-writings CCW 184.2

“To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20 NKJV CCW 184.3

“There are many who profess to have great faith. They make great claims to holiness, but do they speak according to the law and the testimony? If they do not, it is because there is no light in them.” Ellen White in The Signs of the Times, May 27, 1889, par. 2 CCW 184.4
