Counsel #28 — Sabbath Kept Throughout Eternity CCW 105

Few things are truly timeless. Jerusalem, the center of Judaism, was destroyed by Titus in AD 70—yet the Sabbath endured. In Matthew 24:20, Jesus’ prophetic warning about Jerusalem’s coming destruction also affirmed that the Sabbath would remain even after that great city’s fall. CCW 105.2

Why? Because the Sabbath is more than just a day linked to any religion—it’s a living reminder of God as our Creator and Redeemer. Think of it like a golden clasp fastening God and His people together forever. For Israel, the Sabbath was the sign that set them apart when God led them out of Egypt toward the promised land. And it still marks God’s people today as they step away from the world’s pull and journey toward the eternal rest He has promised. And here’s the incredible part: Scripture says the Sabbath isn’t just for this lifetime—it will be honored throughout eternity![175] https://inverse.sspmadventist.org/en/2022-03-cq CCW 105.3

“‘For just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I make, will endure before Me,’ declares the Lord, ‘So will your descendants and your name endure. And it shall be from new moon to new moon, and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all mankind will come to bow down before Me,” says the Lord.” Isaiah 66:22, 23 NASB CCW 105.4

“The Sabbath is a sign of the relationship existing between God and His people, a sign that they honor His law. It distinguishes between His loyal subjects and transgressors.” Ellen White in Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, p. 349 CCW 105.5

Reflect: Since the Sabbath is timeless, how should we observe it while on this earth? CCW 105.6
