Spring and fall are the two seasons in which the Strawberries are usually transplanted. Of the two, the spring seems to be the more natural time, as the ground is soft and moist, and the weather is usually favorable. From the middle of April to the middle of May is usually the best time for spring setting. For late planting, the months of August and September are preferable. Late setting has one advantage, and that is: if the plants can be set so early that they will become firmly rooted before cold weather, they will generally produce a partial crop the following season, and will become more firmly rooted than they would if the setting be delayed till spring.
