Not By One Gift Alone SPIAM 86

Many gifts have entered into the building up of such a work. We honor the men and women who as physicians have given their lives to this department, and also their associate workers. Those who have been foremost at the task have been first to acknowledge the debt this department owes to the instruction and encouragement that came through the Spirit of prophecy. Here any previous training of the human agent of this gift could count even less than in the educational development. SPIAM 86.1

But there is a never-failing fount of inspiration to right physical living and medical missionary activity in the volumes of these writings. It was fitting that on the central administration building of the White Memorial Hospital, at Los Angeles, a unit of the Medical College founded in Loma Linda and Los Angeles to send out medical missionaries, this memorial tablet was affixed by our medical leaders: SPIAM 86.2

This Hospital
is dedicated to the memory of
Ellen Gould White
whose long life was unselfishly
devoted to the
Alleviation of the woes and sorrows of the sick,
the suffering, and the needy; and to inspiring
young men and women to consecrate
their lives
to the work of Him who said,
“Heal the sick.”
