Ezekiel 41

1 Next he brought me to the Temple and measured its door jambs at six cubits ^{a41:1 i.e. about 10.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide on each side of the structure. ^{b41:1 Lit. tent}ISV — Ezekiel 41:1

2 The entrance was ten cubits ^{c41:2 i.e. about 17.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide and its door jambs were five cubits ^{d41:2 i.e. about 8.75 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide on each side. He measured the length of the nave at 40 cubits ^{e41:2 i.e. about 35 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} and its width at 20 cubits. ^{f41:2 i.e. about 70 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} ISV — Ezekiel 41:2

3 Then he went inside and measured the door jambs at two cubits ^{g41:3 i.e. about 42 inches; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide and the doorway at six cubits ^{h41:3 i.e. about 10.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} high. The doorway was seven cubits ^{i41:3 i.e. about 12.25 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide.ISV — Ezekiel 41:3

4 He measured its length at 20 cubits, ^{j41:4 i.e. about 35 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} its width at 20 cubits ^{k41:4 i.e. about 35 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} in front of the structure, ^{l41:4 i.e. the separation between the Holy Place and the most holy area} and then he told me, “This is the most holy area.”ISV — Ezekiel 41:4

5 Next, he measured the Temple walls at six cubits ^{m41:5 i.e. about 10.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} high and the width of the side chambers at four cubits ^{n41:5 i.e. about seven feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} around all four sides of the Temple.ISV — Ezekiel 41:5

6 The side chambers consisted of three stories, each above the other, with 30 chambers in each story. The side chambers extended out from the wall that faced the inside of the chambers where the chambers were fastened together, but the chamber walls were not fastened directly into the Temple walls themselves.ISV — Ezekiel 41:6

7 The side chambers surrounding the Temple were wider at each successive story, because the surrounding structure ascended by proportional increments as it rose, ascending to the highest story by going up successively from the lowest.ISV — Ezekiel 41:7

8 I observed a raised platform that surrounded the Temple, and the foundations of the side chambers were a full six cubits ^{o41:8 i.e. about 10.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} deep.ISV — Ezekiel 41:8

9 The outer wall of the side chambers was five cubits ^{p41:9 i.e. about 8.75 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} thick, and there was an empty space between the Temple’s side chambersISV — Ezekiel 41:9

10 and its outer chambers 20 cubits ^{q41:10 i.e. about 35 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} in width, surrounding the Temple on each side.ISV — Ezekiel 41:10

11 The side chamber doorway facing the free space contained a single north-facing doorway and a second south-facing doorway. 12 The building that faced the west side of the courtyard was 70 cubits ^{t41:12 i.e. about 122.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} wide, and the building’s wall was five cubits ^{u41:12 i.e. about 8.75 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} thick all around. It was 90 cubits ^{v41:12 i.e. about 157.5 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} long.ISV — Ezekiel 41:12

13 Then he measured the Temple. It was 100 cubits ^{w41:13 i.e. about 175 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} long, and the courtyard, its building, and its walls were 100 cubits ^{x41:13 i.e. about 175 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} long.ISV — Ezekiel 41:13

16 the thresholds, the shielded ^{cc41:16 Or latticed} windows, and the surrounding three-storied galleries that stood opposite. From the ground to the shielded ^{dd41:16 Or latticed} windows, they were paneled with wood all around,ISV — Ezekiel 41:16

17 including up to the doorway, up to the Temple (both within and without) and all around both sides of the inner wall, according to his measurement.ISV — Ezekiel 41:17

18 There were carved cherubim and palm trees, alternating with a palm tree between a cherub, and each cherub had two faces,ISV — Ezekiel 41:18

22 The altar was made of wood, three cubits ^{gg41:22 i.e. about 5.25 feet; the royal cubit was 21 inches} high and two cubits ^{hh41:22 i.e. about 42 inches; the royal cubit was 21 inches} long. Its corners, base, and sides were of wood. He told me, “This table stands in the LORD’s presence.”ISV — Ezekiel 41:22

23 The nave and the sanctuary each were equipped with double doors.ISV — Ezekiel 41:23

24 Each door had two sections mounted on hinges, ^{ii41:24 Lit. two swinging sections} for a total of two sections for one door and two sections for the other.ISV — Ezekiel 41:24

25 The doors of the nave had carvings engraved on them, consisting of cherubim and palm trees identical to those on the walls. The front of the exterior porch was equipped with a wooden threshold.ISV — Ezekiel 41:25
