    § 2. THE KINGDOM

A few remarks only are required in this place, on this subject. It will be remembered that the promises of the kingdom to the descendents of Jacob were conditional, and that they were forfeited under the old covenant; and the kingdom can now only be obtained by obtaining an interest in Jesus, the son and heir of David. The fact that they forfeited and lost their right to the kingdom is stated directly by the Saviour, in Matthew 21:43: “Therefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”RDAC 85.1

And again, it is said that the poor of this world, rich in faith, are “heirs of the kingdom which God hath promised to them that love him.” James 2:5.RDAC 86.1
