PREFACE
The present work is prepared to meet an urgent, existing want. The work entitled, “History of the Sabbath and First Day of the Week” is now out of print. Some time must elapse before a new edition can be furnished. This space of time is demanded for careful research and patient labor, that the forthcoming History of the Sabbath may be rendered as perfect as possible, and made such a work as the importance of the subject demands. Some delay in the publication of the new Sabbath History is therefore unavoidable. But the writer wishes to say that the utmost diligence shall be used in urging forward the work to completion at as early a date as possible consistent with the many other duties devolving upon him.SOSL 3.1
The work now presented to the reader is a brief outline of Biblical and Secular History relating to the Sabbath of the Lord. It is believed that even those who have long studied this subject will find something to interest them in this little work, and it is hoped that many who know not the teaching of the Bible relative to the Sabbath and law of God, may be led by the perusal of this work to honor God in the sanctification of his great memorial, the Sabbath.SOSL 3.2
