Psalm 29 ISV — Psalm 29

1 Ascribe to the LORD, you heavenly beings; ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. ISV — Psalm 29:1

2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD wearing holy attire. ISV — Psalm 29:2

3 The voice of the LORD was heard a29:3 The Heb. lacks heard above the waters; the God of glory thundered; the LORD was heard b29:3 The Heb. lacks heard over many waters. ISV — Psalm 29:3

4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. ISV — Psalm 29:4

5 The voice of the LORD snaps the cedars; c29:5 i.e. a genus of coniferous evergreen in the family Pinaceae; and so throughout the book the LORD snaps the cedars of Lebanon. ISV — Psalm 29:5

6 He makes them stagger like a calf, even Lebanon and Sirion d29:6 i.e. Mount Hermon; cf. Deut 3:9 like a young wild ox. ISV — Psalm 29:6

7 The voice of the LORD shoots out flashes of fire. ISV — Psalm 29:7

8 The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the voice of the LORD shakes e29:8 The Heb. lacks shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. ISV — Psalm 29:8

9 The voice of the LORD causes deer to give birth, and strips the forest bare. In his Temple all of them shout, “Glory!” ISV — Psalm 29:9

10 The LORD sat enthroned over the flood, and the LORD sits as king forever. ISV — Psalm 29:10

11 The LORD will give strength to his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. ISV — Psalm 29:11
