Counsel #8 — A Union Centered In Christ CR 184

Picture: Counsel #8 — A Union Centered In Christ CR 184.1

A Christ-centered marriage brings more than companionship - it nurtures wholeness in every area of life. Emotionally, a healthy marriage will offer a safe space where vulnerability is met with grace, and mentally, it will provide stability through shared values. CR 184.2

Another benefit of a Christian marriage is the community it brings. Having the same belief system as your spouse will allow you both to connect to a broader faith community that supports, encourages, and holds you accountable. Physically, mutual respect will lead to healthy boundaries and loving care for one another’s needs — you’ll never have to fear verbal or physical abuse in any form. Spiritually, the greatest strength of a Christian marriage is its foundation in God. When both partners seek Christ first, they are less likely to be clingy, seeking fulfillment in one another alone. While no marriage is perfect, marriages that are grounded in Christ will always be more equipped to handle storms with resilience and fortitude. When God is at the center, the relationship will become a channel of joy, not just for the couple but for everyone around them.[190] https://adventistreview.org/the-word/gods-ideal-marriage/ CR 184.3
