Counsel #26 — Light in Darkness CR 28

Picture: Counsel #26 — Light in Darkness CR 28.1

Being a positive influence for Christ among your peers starts with making a conscious decision to reflect God’s love in your words and actions. Because God has shown great love to us, we strive to live with integrity and kindness to others. CR 28.2

Through prayer and studying God’s Word consistently, we become more like Jesus in our actions, which are more revealing than our words. You can say you love and care for someone, but if your actions don’t align with your words, those words quickly lose their meaning. Take, for example, a friend who’s going through a tough time. You see them at school and ask how you can help, and they tell you exactly what they need. Fast-forward two weeks—nothing. You never followed through. Do you think they’ll trust you to show up for them again? Probably not! CR 28.3

If we love Christ, we will desire to model His character, asking the Holy Spirit to help us live intentionally as light in a dark, lost world.[26] https://columbiaunion.org/content/shining-light CR 28.4

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 NIV CR 28.5

“If Christ is dwelling in the heart, it is impossible to conceal the light of His presence.” Ellen White in Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, p. 41 CR 28.6

Reflect: In what ways can you be intentionally uplifting at school, work, or home? CR 28.7
