Picture: Counsel #26 — Not Your Own CWe 144.1
Just as you wouldn’t harm or neglect something valuable to someone else, you shouldn’t mistreat the body Christ died for. Contrary to popular belief, our bodies are not our own — they were bought at a price through Jesus’ sacrifice. CWe 144.2
The devil has always wanted people to believe that their bodies are their own to do with whatever they want. This is a huge deception! As God’s creation, we shouldn’t allow just anything to have access to our temples, even food. When you recognize that you belong to God, you will begin to care for yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually with intentionality and purpose. God desires for us to take care of our bodies, and in doing this, we glorify Him and honor His Sovereignty. It wasn’t easy for God to send His precious Son to die on the cross for all sinners, but He saw all humanity as worth saving. With this in mind, let us vow to take care of our bodies out of love and gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, knowing how greatly He values us; let us fully trust in His guidance and direction.[180] https://shilohbrooklyn.org/god-wants-his-own-property/ CWe 144.3
