    General Conference Sessions

Prescott’s presentations at the General Conference Sessions after Minneapolis, leading into the 1895 Session from which “The Di-vine-Human Family” series is taken, provide a view of what themes he addressed. As with the series we reproduce here, the other talks are available from the CD-ROM collection.DHF 7.2

One should be able to see from the studies on “The Di-vine-Human Family” as well as the Armadale Camp Meeting Series (from later in 1895, after his arrival in Australia; these have been republished separately), that Prescott was open to the “most precious” truth that the Spirit was revealing to those proclaiming the soon coming of Jesus. The corporate, universal themes were right-fully placed as a foundation underneath the individual themes that should flow out of the gospel, and complete the whole of God’s purpose in the salvation of souls. It must become clear to us, that if we limit the recall of the foundation truths, the personal experience intended will also be limited. One can stand tall only to the pro-portion as he grasps how deeply his roots are anchored in Jesus Christ.DHF 8.1

This seems clearly to be the intent of the following statement, made after the 1895 Session, and before the Armadale Camp Meeting, just after Prescott arrived in Australia.DHF 8.2

Those who, since the Minneapolis meeting, have had the privilege of listening to the words spoken by the messengers of God, Elder A.T. Jones, Prof. Prescott, Brn. E. J. Waggoner, O. A. Olsen, and many others, at the campmeetings and ministerial institutes, have had the invitation, “Come, for all things are now ready. Come to the supper prepared for you.” Light, heaven’s light, has been shining. The trumpet has given a certain sound. Those who have made their various excuses for neglecting to respond to the call, have lost much. The light has been shining upon justification by faith and the imputed righteousness of Christ. Those who receive and act in the light given, will, in their teachings, give evidence that the message of Christ crucified, a risen Saviour ascended into the heavens to be our advocate, is the wisdom and power of God in the con-version of souls, bringing them back to their loyalty to Christ. These are our themes,--Christ crucified for our sins, Christ risen from the dead, Christ our intercessor before God; and closely connected with these is the office-work of the Holy Spirit, the representative of Christ, sent forth with divine power and gifts for men (1888 Materials, p. 1455.2; Letter 86, 1895, September 25, 1895 to Edson White).DHF 8.3
