    God’s Seal

Where is God’s seal to be found?BR-ASI9 309.6

“Bind up the testimony, seal the law among My disciples.” Isaiah 8:16.BR-ASI9 309.7

Which commandment alone of the Decalogue reveals the name, authority, and dominion of the Author of this law?BR-ASI9 309.8

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11.BR-ASI9 309.9

Note.—In six days, (1) the Lord (name); (2) made (office, Creator); (3) heaven and earth (dominion). This commandment alone, therefore, contains “the seal of the living God.” This commandment shows God’s authority to enact all the commandments, and shows all other gods to be false gods. The Sabbath commandment, therefore, contains the seal of God.BR-ASI9 309.10

Why is the Sabbath a sign between God and His people?BR-ASI9 310.1

“It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.” Exodus 31:17.BR-ASI9 310.2

Note.—The Sabbath is the sign, or mark, or seal, of the Creator.BR-ASI9 310.3

In what two ways does God say the Sabbath is a sign?BR-ASI9 310.4

    1. “And hallow My sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.” Ezekiel 20:20.BR-ASI9 310.5

    2. “Verily My sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.” Exodus 31:13.BR-ASI9 310.6

Note.—The Sabbath is the sign of God’s creative power, and redeeming or recreating power. God designs that each Sabbath shall call Him to mind as the One who created us, and whose grace and sanctifying power are working in us to fit us for His eternal kingdom.BR-ASI9 310.7
