Summary of Statistics of Conferences and Missions for the Three Quarters Ending Sept. 30, 1900.-Concluded
[?? These are laborers not enumerated in conferences and missions named above, but are granted credentials by the General Conference, and hold membership in the various conferences, most of them paying their tithe where they hold membership.]
[** Not including the Battle Creek church.]
[|| Mission fields supported by the Foreign Mission Board, the Mission Board receiving all their tithe.]
[## Tithe reported for two quarters.]
[++ Full report would add nearly two hundred to this membership.]
[+++ Tithe received by the General Conference from individuals, and not accounted for elsewhere.]
“THE CHRISTIAN RECORD”
This magazine for the blind is now starting on its second year. Through it we have been enabled to speak to a great many blind people. The paper has gone to every State institution for this unfortunate class, and in this way both old and young have had a chance to read. From the same office we have sent out a great many tracts, which have been advertised in the magazine.GCB October 1, 1900, page 199.1
All can see that, from the nature of the case, this work must be largely gratuitous, because the blind usually are not blessed with a superabundance of this world’s goods. We therefore solicit our brethren and tract societies generally to contribute to the Christian Record which can be done through the tract societies, for the purpose of supplying the blind within the scope of your knowledge, with this helpful literature. Quite a good many blind people write in and say that they have read a number of our magazine, and like it very much, and would subscribe for it if they could get the $1.50 for the yearly subscription.GCB October 1, 1900, page 199.2
Can not the tract societies take hold of this line of work for the blind, as well as to circulate freely thousands and millions of pages for seeing people? Remember that there are over two hundred thousand blind people in the United States alone, who lay claim on us for the light of the third angel’s message. Who will respond to the call?GCB October 1, 1900, page 199.3
