Conclusion

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter” is not only a sound pedagogical device, but also a spiritual imperative.IRWHW 57.2

Inspiration has been seen as a process in which God uniquely imparts eternally important truths through “his servants, the prophets,” who “at sundry times and in divers manners” have spoken to their contemporaries and to those who would later follow to enable them to understand the divine mind and will of God for their lives.IRWHW 57.3

Especially in these closing hours of earth’s history, there is an overriding need to understand how this phenomena operates, so that one may not only have an intelligent understanding of what God is trying to say, but also to avoid the perils and pitfalls that arise from the holding of false views.IRWHW 57.4

Paul’s admonition to the saints of the New Testament—“Quench not the Spirit [don’t let the candle go out!]. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:19-21)—is but the echo of the counsel of Jehoshaphat in the Old Testament: “Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper” (2 Chronicles 20:20).IRWHW 57.5
