Allusions; Obscure or Archaic Expressions

Biblical allusions abound in Ellen White's writings, often woven into their very fabric. No attempt has been made to identify all of these allusions, but identification has usually been limited to instances that are central to the argument or are unusual in some respect. Allusions to hymns, poems, and other literary pieces have been identified where possible, and a few words and expressions that may be puzzling to modern readers, such as “plank road,” “carriole,” and “snug dealing,”^{6See Ellen G.
