    The Law worketh Wrath

Since sin already existed before the law entered at Sinai, the entering of the law proclaimed a curse, for it is written, “Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” 4Galatians 3:10. That curse was death, because it was the curse which Christ bore for us. It is evident, therefore, that the giving of the law from Sinai was the ministration of death. “The law worketh wrath.” All the attending circumstances proclaimed that fact. The thunders and lightnings, the devouring fire, the smoking mountain, and the quaking earth, all spoke death. Mount Sinai, itself a symbol of Divine law broken, was death to whoever should touch it. It needed not the barriers about the mountain to keep the people away, after the awful voice of God was heard proclaiming His law; for when they heard and saw, “they removed, and stood afar off,” and said, “Let not God speak with us, lest we die.” 1Exodus 20:18, 19.EVCO 288.3
