Counsel #25 — Balance It Out

Picture: Counsel #25 — Balance It OutCI 154.1

We all know the two extremes. Some guys work nonstop and burn themselves out, while others coast through life, dodging responsibility and calling it "relaxing." Somewhere in between is the balance God actually wants for us: hard work driven by purpose, not pressure, and rest that refreshes, not laziness disguised as self-care.CI 154.2

Masculine industry means showing up with diligence, consistency, and excellence. No matter what age you are, as a man, you can always reflect this, whether you’re clocking in at a job, caring for your family, studying in school, or serving in ministry. Proverbs 14:23 puts it plainly: “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” God doesn’t expect you to grind 24/7 and forget your health or your family. Nor does He honor idleness or waiting around for blessings without effort. The Bible is full of men who worked with their hands and their hearts. Think of Nehemiah rebuilding a wall, or Jesus working as a carpenter. They weren’t defined by hustle culture, but by dedication to their calling. Godly masculinity means being a man of action without being a slave to work.[170] https://mhanational.org/resources/work-life-balance/ CI 154.3
