    Counsel #25 — Pray

    Picture: Counsel #25 — PrayCI 64.1

Some days, all you can see are your flaws, like the extra weight you’ve gained, the spiritual inconsistency with devotion, or the emotional outbursts with your spouse you wish you could undo. The enemy loves to keep you staring in the mirror of shame, replaying mistakes, magnifying weaknesses, and whispering lies like, “You’ll never change.”CI 64.2

The good news is that Jesus never asked you to fix yourself before coming to Him. He simply said, “Come.” So, what do you do when the flaws feel louder than your faith? Turn your eyes back to Jesus and confide in Him through prayer. If you struggle with coming up with what to say to God, realize that He already knows what’s on your mind and heart. All He wants you to do is to openly trust Him enough to share it. For example, you can say something like, “Lord, I’m tired of measuring myself by every flaw and failure. Let Your truth dispel every lie I’ve believed about who I am.” After you pray, speak Scripture over your soul, and remind yourself that the same Jesus who parted the Red Sea is with you now and forever. God’s not intimidated by your brokenness. He’s already chosen you despite it.[64] https://adventist.org/beliefs/bible/prayer CI 64.3
