    Counsel #23 — Sanctification

    Picture: Counsel #23 — SanctificationCI 25.1

We are not instantly restored to the image of God the moment we accept Christ, but we experience an ongoing process that happens daily. When we surrender our lives to Jesus and acknowledge Him as Lord, the Holy Spirit transforms us from within. This process is called sanctification, and it’s not a quick fix - it’s a lifelong journey. Every day, the Spirit will work to rebuild in us the character of God, reshaping how we think and live.CI 25.2

When Jesus returns, He won’t suddenly transform our character right then and there. The work of restoring our hearts and transforming our characters must be done beforehand. Plenty of time is given to us now to allow God’s Spirit to prepare us for Heaven. Although this change is necessary to spend eternity with Him, God won’t force anyone to change. The Holy Spirit attempts to get our attention through subtle nudges, but ultimately, the choice to allow Him to change us is left up to each individual. While the journey can be challenging, it’s reassuring to know that one day we will live in God’s presence forever, never to be separated from Him again.[25] https://sthelenaca.adventistchurch.org/about/worship-with-us/bible-studies/dr-erwin-gane/sanctification-and-salvation CI 25.3
