Counsel #14 — LOVE AND OBEY

Picture: Counsel #14 — LOVE AND OBEYCMH 16.1

Sometimes our peace is disturbed because we’re deliberately living outside of God’s will. In these moments, the Holy Spirit stirs our conscience, showing us we’re choosing wrong and urging us to confess, repent, and turn back to Him.CMH 16.2

David knew this struggle well. After committing adultery and murder, he was torn apart inside. His restless spirit found no relief until he finally confessed his sin to God with deep repentance. His confession and heartfelt prayer in Psalms 51 records this turning point—where forgiveness, restoration, and peace flooded in as his relationship with God was restored.CMH 16.3

If peace feels out of reach for you, take an honest look at your life. Is there an area where you’re deliberately resisting God’s way? When the Spirit reveals sin, don’t push it aside—confess it to God, make things right with those you’ve wronged, and repent. God is always faithful to forgive and restore the deep, lasting peace your soul longs for.[17] https://brightbeams.org/ellen-white/blessing-of-obedience/ CMH 16.4

“I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God.” Deuteronomy 11:26-28 NKJVCMH 16.5

“Obedience is the service of love. God’s law shows us what He is like. Love is the very center of the law.” Ellen White in Steps to Jesus, p. 58CMH 16.6

Reflect: How can you better align your actions with God’s law, which reflects His character of love?CMH 16.7
