Counsel #28 — An Attitude of Gratitude

Picture: Counsel #28 — An Attitude of GratitudeCSL 38.1

A spirit of gratitude and praise is a core part of our identity as Christians. The great Christian reformer, Martin Luther, said, “It is faith in God’s faithfulness that has the power to make you glad and bold and happy.”[49]An excerpt from “An Introduction to St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans,” Luther’s German Bible of 1522 by Martin Luther. This deep-seated joy comes from trusting in a God who always keeps His promises.CSL 38.2

We should actively train our hearts and our words to praise God for His incredible, unmatched love. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind and forget to express gratitude in song, prayer, and witness to God’s goodness. Ask the Holy Spirit to keep you in a frame of mind, remembering that you are a child of the Sovereign King of the Universe, a son or daughter of the Lord of hosts. Your heritage includes the immense love and power that surrounds you as a follower of Jesus.[50] https://adventistreview.org/commentary/an-attitude-of-gratitude/ CSL 38.3

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17 NKJVCSL 38.4

“Let us educate our hearts and lips to speak the praise of God for His matchless love…. Never should we forget that we are children of the heavenly King, sons and daughters of the Lord of hosts.” Ellen White in The Ministry of Healing, p. 253CSL 38.5

Reflect: How can you more intentionally infuse an attitude of gratitude into all your actions and words throughout the day, not just in specific moments of worship?CSL 38.6
