Counsel #8 — Walking with Jesus

Picture: Counsel #8 — Walking with JesusCSL 47.1

Though the new birth is a one-time experience of full surrender to Christ through the enabling power of His Holy Spirit, we walk with Jesus by dying daily to self. Even though becoming a Christian happens when we fully give ourselves to Jesus, we need to choose to let go of our own desires and plans day after day, even moment by moment. Every morning and throughout the day, recommit yourself to letting Jesus be in charge of your life and ask God to fill you with His Spirit again.CSL 47.2

Remind yourself frequently that you belong to Jesus and have given your life to Him. Then His Spirit will help you resist doing wrong and give you the courage, motivation, and power to live in a way that pleases Him. And if you stumble in your walk with Jesus, don’t give up! He still loves you and will help you get back on track with Him.[58] https://adventistreview.org/journeys-with-jesus/the-faith-of-a-child/ CSL 47.3

    “I die daily.” 1 Corinthians 15:31 NKJVCSL 47.4

“Every morning give yourself to God for that day. Put all your plans before Him, then carry out these plans or give them up as He guides. In this way you may give your life day by day into the hands of God. Your life will be made more and more like the life of Christ.” Ellen White in Steps to Jesus, p. 69CSL 47.5

Reflect: What is one area of your life where you feel you need to "die to self" more fully?CSL 47.6
