    Counsel #18 — Being Supportive

    Picture: Counsel #18 — Being SupportiveCSL 117.1

Life can sometimes feel like a bumpy road, full of little arguments and misunderstandings that can steal our peace of heart. As Christians, we are called to live differently, to find a deeper kind of calm that comes from God. One practical way to find this peace is by actively trying to build others up. This means looking for ways to affirm and support the people around us — our spouses, our family, the people we work with, and our church friends.CSL 117.2

Think about how good it feels when someone says encouraging words, or they offer to help when you need it. We can give that same feeling to others. Instead of always focusing on what’s wrong or getting into disagreements, we can choose to see the good in people and tell them. A simple word of appreciation, acknowledging their efforts, or offering a helping hand can make a big difference in their day—and in our own hearts, too! (Bonus: Being a living example teaches our children about peace![154]Isaiah 54:13) By focusing on support and peacemaking, we bless others and find a deeper, lasting peace in our own hearts, a peace that comes from living God’s way.[155] https://littletonsdachurch.org/resources/pastor-s-blog/encourage-one-another/ CSL 117.3

Reflect: How can being supportive and a peacemaker serve as a “living example” for those around you?CSL 117.6
