1Chronicles 24

1 These were the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:1

2 But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:2

3 David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:3

4 There were more chief men found among the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; so they were divided like this: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen heads according to their ancestral houses, and eight according to their ancestral houses among the sons of Ithamar.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:4

5 And thus were they divided impartially by drawing lots; for there were officiers of the sanctuary, and officiers of God, both of the descendants of Eleazar, and of the descendants of Ithamar.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:5

6 And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king, and the officiers, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and of the Levites; one fathers' house being taken for Eleazar and one being taken for Ithamar.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:6

14 the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:14

15 the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:15

16 the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:16

17 the twenty-first to Jakin, the twenty-second to Gamul,NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:17

19 This was their ordering in their service, to come into the house of the LORD according to the ordinance given to them by Aaron their father, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:19

25 The brother of Micah, Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:25

26 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; of his sons: Jaaziah his son.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:26

27 The sons of Merari by Jaaziah his son: Shoham, and Zakkur, and Ibri.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:27

30 The sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after their fathers' houses.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:30

31 These likewise cast lots even as their kinsmen the descendants of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and of the Levites; the ancestral houses of the chief even as those of his younger brother.NHEB — 1Chronicles 24:31
