    Counsel #19 — Temporary Boost

    Picture: Counsel #19 — Temporary BoostCWe 137.1

If you think energy drinks are the secret to staying awake, think again! They may provide a quick boost to pull an all-nighter for an exam, but the temporary rush always comes with a price.CWe 137.2

Many people already know that energy drinks are loaded with sugar, but did you know they are also filled with chemicals that raise your blood pressure, increase heart rate and anxiety, and make you feel “jittery?” The energy boost you get from drinking a Red Bull can also pour over into your sleep habits. All energy drinks contain high amounts of caffeine, which is a stimulant that intentionally blocks adenosine, the chemical in your brain that makes you naturally tired. Even if you drink an energy drink hours before bedtime, traces of the caffeine remain in your system for 6-8 hours, making it harder for your body to enter deep sleep. Although energy drinks are widely accepted in society, God designed our bodies to function without man-made energy supplements. Instead of relying on a quick fix, ask God to help you prioritize better food and drink options so that you may experience lasting energy the way He intended.[173] https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10535526/ CWe 137.3
