    Picture: Counsel #3 — A Living SacrificeCWe 224.1

God would like us to guard our health as carefully as we guard our characters. Maybe it’s as important to be mindful what we put into our bodies everyday as it is to say our prayers!CWe 224.2

Failure to control appetite spells SELFISHNESS. When we think of Jesus hanging mangled and bleeding on the cross, demonstrating the exact opposite of selfishness, it makes us want to preserve this body for which He died. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJVCWe 224.4

“The Christian today needs to keep strict guard over his appetite…. The physical, mental, and moral powers must be kept in the most perfect condition if he would obtain the approval of God.” Ellen G. White in Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 6, p. 1089.7CWe 224.5
