Counsel #21 — Living His Will

Picture: Counsel #21 — Living His WillCWe 110.1

Living for God’s purpose rather than being controlled by appetite means prioritizing eternal values over temporary desires. Appetites—whether for food, success, comfort, or pleasure—can take precedence if not aligned with God’s will.CWe 110.2

In the Bible, Jesus’ life was centered on obedience to the Father rather than fleeting physical needs. As believers, this is the standard we should be striving to meet. We can serve God’s purpose and ensure unhealthy appetites don’t pull us away from His ideal when we pray and align our desires with His Word first thing every morning. When you mindfully recognize your emotional or physical cravings pulling you away from His plans, PRAY — and intentionally redirect your focus to what glorifies Him. Through self-discipline and reliance on the Holy Spirit, you can break free from your appetites that control you. Living in alignment with God’s purpose for your life will bring fulfillment, replacing unhealthy cravings with a greater call on your life, which brings eternal peace, joy, and clarity.[140] https://stewardship.adventist.org/page509 CWe 110.3
