Chapter 15 — Increasing Light and Greater Wonders

“CALL to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; partly, whilst ye were made a gazing-stock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.” 1Hebrews 10:32, 33.GSAM 235.1

The period of time from the disappointment in 1844 until the clear light respecting the sanctuary and the third angel’s message was brought out, was one of peculiar trial. Adventists who still persisted that they were right in the past movement, were indeed a “gazing-stock” to those who supposed the message to be an entire failure; and for this cause they were subjects of great reproach. This they could cheerfully endure while they held on to the Lord by faith, and shared the presence of his Holy Spirit.GSAM 235.2
