    Counsel #9 — Peaceful Security

    Picture: Counsel #9 — Peaceful SecurityCR 156.1

Sometimes a relationship can seem exciting on the outside, but inside, your heart may feel tense, uneasy, or even a little afraid. That’s not how real love is supposed to feel. When God brings the right person into your life, you won’t have to wonder where you stand.CR 156.2

Instead, you’ll feel safe enough in the relationship to express emotions openly. If you’re wondering about whether your current relationship is from God, the best way to determine this is to compare your relationship against God’s standards. As believers, we know that God’s Spirit is gentle and brings unwavering peace and joy. If you constantly feel anxious or fearful around someone, that may be God’s way of nudging you to pay attention. It could be that the person you’re with isn’t who God wants for you. Love that comes from God doesn’t breed fear, and He desires for you to have a bond that strengthens your spirit, not one that drains it. Trust God’s direction to lead you to the love He designed for you![163] https://m.egwwritings.org/en/book/2723.426#426 CR 156.3

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 NIVCR 156.4

“Pure and holy affection is not a feeling, but a principle.” Ellen White in Letters to Young Lovers, p. 30CR 156.5
