Counsel #8 — Faithful Love Pursuits

Picture: Counsel #8 — Faithful Love PursuitsCR 127.1

The popularity surrounding dating today stems from the idea that another person’s presence is required to feel complete, supported, and loved. Although many desire to be in a committed relationship, it’s important to realize the seriousness behind choosing a romantic partner.CR 127.2

When choosing who to date, the first step should always be prayer - for God is the only one who knows who He created for you to be in a relationship with. Considering this, it’s imperative not to be led by emotions, feelings, or physical urges when making your pick. Entering any romantic relationship should stem from healthy, God-honoring motivations rather than negative or self-centered reasons. Being motivated by the fear of being alone, societal pressures, or seeking validation can all lead to unbalanced, unhealthy dynamics. Similarly, entering a relationship out of boredom, jealousy, or the desire to compete with others can create toxicity and stunt personal growth.CR 127.3

A God-centered relationship seeks to glorify Him by growing together in love and purpose. Overall, a true healthy relationship focuses on supporting each other’s spiritual, emotional, and personal development, while depending on God to fill the voids that only He can truly satisfy.[130] https://adventist.news/news/a-conversation-on-dating-today CR 127.4
