Counsel #1 — Scripture Leads To Jesus

Picture: Counsel #1 — Scripture Leads To JesusCSL 27.1

Scripture is an agent that leads us to Jesus and eternal life.[23]https://southbendfirstin.adventistchurch.org/about/church-connected/jesus-in-all-of-scripture Jesus chided His hearers, especially the religious leaders who prided themselves on their extensive knowledge of Scripture, by telling them that the very Scriptures they searched were testifying of Himself, whom they had rejected (see John 5:39)!CSL 27.2

Our purpose in studying Scripture is to learn more of God and come into relationship with His Son Jesus. The Word helps us live continually in God’s presence and hear His voice in guidance.CSL 27.3

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24 NKJVCSL 27.4

“Even greater is the power of the Bible in the development of the spiritual nature. Man, created for fellowship with God, can only in such fellowship find his real life and development…. He who with sincere and teachable spirit studies God’s word, seeking to comprehend its truths, will be bought in touch with its Author.” Ellen White in Education, pp. 124, 125CSL 27.5

Reflect: How can you give a higher priority to the study of the Bible — God’s Word to you?CSL 27.6
