    Counsel #6 — Humility And Christ’s Righteousness

    Picture: Counsel #6 — Humility And Christ’s RighteousnessCSL 80.1

Our natural heart is not humble. Because of Satan and the entrance of sin into God’s perfect world, all of us are tempted to look first to our own interests, not the interests of others. When we ask for and receive the gift of repentance and see ourselves as we really are, our first reaction is “Woe is me! I am totally undone.” Thank God, He recognizes our repentance and willingness to put away self and sin and answers our prayer to be clothed with the goodness, unselfishness, and total righteousness of Christ.[80]https://www.adventistworld.org/christs-righteousness/CSL 80.2

“For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation.” Psalms 149:4 CSL 80.3

“[God] does not require His servants to work in their own strength. He will impart His wisdom to those who have a humble and contrite spirit. The righteousness of Christ will go before them, and the glory of the Lord will be their rereward. Nothing in this world can harm those who are thus honored by a close connection with God. The earth may shake, the pillars of the world may tremble under them, but they need not fear.” Ellen White in In Heavenly Places, p. 241CSL 80.4

Reflect: In what ways do you think you’ll change when you ask God for a humble and contrite spirit? CSL 80.5
