Counsel #4 — Moses’ Example Of Humility

Picture: Counsel #4 — Moses’ Example Of HumilityCSL 78.1

Moses was not always humble. Raised in a grand palace with wealth and power flaunted on every side, Moses needed years of communion with God in near solitude to sweep away his pride and self-sufficiency. As he learned to trust in divine strength to perform his work faithfully, he also learned that the principles of true leadership are rooted in humility.CSL 78.2

Later, after the Israelites rebelled repeatedly and made Moses’ leadership extremely difficult, God offered to wipe them out as a nation and save Moses. Moses interceded for the people, even offering his life (see Exodus 32:30-33). In this act of self-sacrifice and humility, Moses symbolized the selflessness of the coming Messiah.[77]https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/2008-18/CSL 78.3

“Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.” Numbers 12:3 NKJVCSL 78.4

“Moses had genuine humility, and the Lord honored him by showing him His glory. Even so will He honor all who will serve Him, as did Moses, with a perfect heart.” Ellen White in In Heavenly Places, p. 241CSL 78.5

Reflect: The Bible says Moses was the humblest of all men,[78]Numbers 12:3 yet he was one of the greatest leaders this world has ever seen. Do you equate humility with strength, ability, and authority, such as Moses possessed? CSL 78.6
