    Counsel #1 — Jesus’ Example

    Picture: Counsel #1 — Jesus’ ExampleCSL 51.1

Our all-encompassing Example in obedience is Jesus Himself, in His human life and especially in His death. Every fiber of His being is holy, and yet He took upon Himself the horror of all our sin, choosing to remain obedient to the plan of redemption for our sakes and for the ultimate honor of God.[51]https://ssnet.org/blog/thursday-jesus-our-example/CSL 51.2

“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:8 NKJVCSL 51.3

“’O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, except I drink it, Thy will be done’…. Three times has humanity shrunk from the last, crowning sacrifice. But now the history of the human race comes up before the world’s Redeemer. He sees that the transgressors of the law, if left to themselves, must perish. He sees the helplessness of man. He sees the power of sin. The woes and lamentations of a doomed world rise before Him. He beholds its impending fate, and His decision is made. He will save man at any cost to Himself.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages, p.690, 693CSL 51.4

Reflect: How does contemplating Jesus’ final act of obedience on the cross transform you to choose the death of your own acts of disobedience?CSL 51.5
