Counsel #7 — Your Source Of Hope

Picture: Counsel #7 — Your Source Of HopeCMH 49.1

One of the torments of depression is a sense of hopelessness, a feeling that there is nothing to look forward to and no way out of the despondency.[51]https://adventistreview.org/magazine-article/ellen-white-and-depression/CMH 49.2

If this is your present condition, look back toward where you last saw the light—that is, where you last had a sense of God’s presence and an optimism for the future. Choose to believe by faith and not by sight that the God who led you in the past is still with you, eager to give you courage and strength to conquer your present depression.CMH 49.3

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God.” Psalms 40:1-3 NKJVCMH 49.4

“Why should we fill the gallery of the mind with gloomy scenes of doubt? Why not let the bright beams of the Sun of Righteousness shine into the chambers of the heart and mind, and dispel the shadows of unbelief? Turn to the Light, to Jesus the precious Saviour.” Ellen White in That I May Know Him, p. 228.4CMH 49.5
