Counsel #4 — Seek The Spirit

Picture: Counsel #4 — Seek The SpiritCMH 62.1

When Jesus was on earth, He could talk to people face-to-face, including making the powerful promise to His followers: "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20). How can that be when the Bible clearly says that Jesus ascended to heaven after His resurrection?CMH 62.2

The answer is that Jesus is here with us through the Holy Spirit, another member of the Godhead who is just as much God as Jesus is. The Holy Spirit's role is crucial because after Jesus ascended to heaven, we can still know Him through the Holy Spirit.CMH 62.3

Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit; let Him lead in your decision-making. He is our Guide and Comforter who is always ready to reveal God’s will to us (John 16:13).[66]https://www.eldersdigest.org/en/2015/1/be-filled-with-the-holy-spiritCMH 62.4

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons [and daughters] of God.” Romans 8:14 NKJVCMH 62.5

“Only to those who wait humbly upon God, who watch for His guidance and grace, is the Spirit given. The power of God awaits their demand and reception. This promised blessing, claimed by faith, brings all other blessings in its train.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages, p. 672.1CMH 62.6

Reflect: Being filled with the Spirit isn’t just a one-time experience. It’s a daily seeking, a daily infilling that makes the difference in our lives. What would help you remember to ask God every day for the infilling of His Spirit?CMH 62.7
