Counsel #1 — God Wants You

Picture: Counsel #1 — God Wants YouCCL 3.1

Sometimes we overlook the impact young people have had in our church’s history. Many who have done great things for God started making a difference when they were young. Samuel served in the temple as a child and David was in his teens when he was anointed as king. Even many early Adventists served God in their teens and young adulthood. James White baptized over 1,000 people by the age of 22 and Ellen White received her first vision when she was seventeen. These examples show that God loves to use young people and has important things for them to do![1]https://am.adventistmission.org/v7n1-20CCL 3.2

“Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel…. And Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Are all the young men here?’ Then he said, ‘There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.’ And Samuel said to Jesse, ‘Send and bring him.’” 1 Samuel 16:10, 11CCL 3.3

“As young men go out into this work and, in spite of many difficulties, make a success, let not propositions be made that they take up another work and that the work they have started be given into the charge of men who are older and more experienced. This is not the way to encourage our young men. Persevere in the work that you have begun.” Ellen White in Letters and Manuscripts, vol. 17, Manuscript 98, 1902, pars. 32, 33CCL 3.4

Reflect: What challenges do you face as a young person trying to serve God? What can you do to overcome those challenges?CCL 3.5
