    Counsel #2 — Purpose

    Picture: Counsel #2 — PurposeCCL 41.1

The central purpose of Sabbath School is to study the Bible, the Word of God. Encourage your Sabbath School class to take time for that study and discussion! Consider extending the Bible discussion time beyond Sabbath School (options may include meeting on Friday night, Sabbath morning before services, Sabbath lunch, Sabbath afternoon) to discuss the week’s Bible lesson.[66]https://www.askanadventistfriend.com/adventist-culture/sabbath-school/CCL 41.2

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 KJVCCL 41.3

“Nothing will energize the mind and strengthen the intellect more than the study of the Word of God. No other book has the power to uplift thoughts and invigorate abilities as the Bible. If God’s Word were studied as it should be, men and women would have the open mind, excellent character, and firm purpose that are rarely seen in these times…. We should prize the Bible because it reveals the will of God. Here we learn the object for our creation and how to attain that objective. We learn how to make wise use of the present life and how to obtain the future life. No other book can satisfy the questionings of the mind or the cravings of the heart.” Ellen White in A Call To Stand Apart, pp. 106, 107CCL 41.4

Reflect: What are some challenges you face in making Sabbath School a regular part of your life?CCL 41.5
