    Counsel #22 — Christian Behavior

    Picture: Counsel #22 — Christian BehaviorCCL 32.1

As a follower of God, you are called to live in a way that reflects the image of Jesus in everything you think, feel, and do, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This means choosing activities that cultivate Christ-like qualities in you. Even your entertainment should be uplifting and reflect positive values.CCL 32.2

While cultures differ, your outward appearance should be modest and well-kept. True beauty lies within, shown in a gentle and peaceful spirit. Since your body is the temple where the Holy Spirit resides, treat it with care. This includes getting enough rest, exercising regularly, and choosing healthy foods — avoiding anything considered unclean in the Bible. You should also abstain from things that harm your body, like alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs.CCL 32.3

Instead, engage in activities that bring your mind and body into alignment with Christ's teachings. He desires your overall well-being: health, happiness, and freedom from guilt.[44]https://www.askanadventistfriend.com/adventist-beliefs/christian-behavior/CCL 32.4

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJVCCL 32.5

“Recreation, when true to its name, re-creation, tends to strengthen and build up. Calling us aside from our ordinary cares and occupations, it affords refreshment for mind and body and thus enables us to return with new vigor to the earnest work of life.” Ellen White in Homeward Bound, p. 295CCL 32.6

Reflect: How can you apply the verse "do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31) to your everyday choices, including entertainment, food, and activities?CCL 32.7
