Counsel #3 — Prayer As Worship

Picture: Counsel #3 — Prayer As WorshipCCL 98.1

What would worship be like if there was no prayer? Worship is all about understanding who we are compared to who God is, and being open to knowing Him on His terms. None of this can be done without prayer because prayer shows that we want to connect with God and that we recognize His authority. We ask because He has everything we need. We kneel and believe because we see our limitations and also His goodness. Prayer humbles us and brings us into God’s presence.[128]https://www.adventist.org/prayer/ In return, He reveals Himself to us.CCL 98.2

“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight.” Proverbs 15:8CCL 98.3

“By the Spirit every sincere prayer is indited, and such prayer is acceptable to God. Wherever a soul reaches out after God, there the Spirit's working is manifest, and God will reveal Himself to that soul. For such worshipers He is seeking. He waits to receive them, and to make them His sons and daughters.” Ellen White in The Desire of Ages, p. 189.2CCL 98.4

Reflect: How often do you pray? Take a moment to think about how you can add more time for prayer in your personal worship.CCL 98.5
